2nd QUARTER 2021
Greetings from the team at the VTA as we ease into the second quarter of 2021.
A big thank you to all the members for their renewals and a warm welcome to our new members.
During the hard lockdown last year the gracious old Grand Dame of Villiersdorp, the gardens of the historic Dagbreek homestead, fell into neglect. She looked worn and her lawns were overgrown and filled with rank weeds… then the cavalry arrived in the form of Robert Adshade from Adshome Inc. He brought in his team and in no time the place was cut and trimmed at no cost to VTA. He has offered to continue keeping Dagbreek shipshape for the foreseeable future. Another big thank you to Elizabeth van der Merwe for breathing new life into the Dagbreek building with the opening of her Amulet Fine Art Gallery. Elizabeth organized a successful market in the garden on Saturday March 27th.
The magnificent Theewaterskloof Dam reached capacity earlier this year and with the easing of Covid19 lockdown restrictions the team at Theewater Sports Club swung into action and are offering boating, camping, great fishing and fine dining at the clubhouse. As this mail is being sent the excitement for the Poitjiekos Competition winner is mounting – one of many events organized for members and guests alike!
MARKETING

BUSINESSES
Our local restaurants and coffee shops made it through the worst of the heavy lockdown are getting back on track and, with the uptick in local tourism breathing a sigh of relief and appreciation that all is most definitely not lost.
FARMERS MARKET
The team at Pendennis Farm are continuing their great monthly Country Market out in the Bossieveld and have regular themes such as the last one being centered around Easter festivities.
Please continue to like and share our social media pages and tell your friends about us – everyone benefits from up to date info.
MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
If you know someone (or a new business) that would benefit from becoming a member, please consider asking them to join the Villiersdorp Tourism Association (click for the membership form). We will be highlighting new and current members on all social media platforms, as well as within email marketing campaigns and promoting our town even more this year.

Taking advantage of our dams, mountains, farms, golf course, bird life and exquisite scenery to become a preferred destination for local and foreign tourists wanting an outdoor experience. Be it eco-tourism, agritourism, water sports, golf, biking, hiking or simply a laid-back experience.

Membership is only R400 per business/couple for the year which is real value for money for the exposure you will receive.

VILLIERSDORP TOURISM GOING FORWARD
We would like to ask our members what they feel VTA should be doing to promote tourism
in our “dorp” going forward.
Do you have any great ideas for outdoor activities or other options in our region to entice more tourists to visit our town? Have you got mapped routes that tourists could hike on or ride their bikes? Let us know and we will put the info out there – especially if you have some nice images of your activities or attractions.
Or would you like us to advertise your accommodation/activity offers on our website and other platforms? Send them to us in advance and with information and we will promote your offering.
